The SS Montgomery is an American cargo ship that sank in the Thames in 1944. It's in two pieces, stuck on a sand bank, in shallow water. Its masts stick above water level. It's full of 1500 tonnes of slowly deteriorating explosives. It is constantly monitored and has an exclusion zone around it. It's considered too dangerous to just detonate the explosives and, to date, too risky to even attempt to move them, as any disturbance could set them off.
However, if plans to build a new airport on an artificial island in the Thames go ahead, something will need to be done with the Montgomery.
So, Ratsperts, what would you do with a problem like the SS Richard Montgomery?

Leave it as it is until it can safely be disposed and scrap the plans for more airports - we've got enough already, - and definitely don't build more around London because the geographic disparities in favour of the South East are just getting worse.
