Is this popular enough and durable enough to warrant conversion of large numbers of files?

EPUB is probably the most future-proof. It's an open standard, there are lots of free converters out there and the data is stored as XHTML so it's absurdly easy to transform into other formats if required.

Thanks. I have a choice of going PDF or E-pub, and E-pub is more free, so I'll go that way. Lots of converting programs do batch conversion. Zilla, what are you converting from? If it's PDF you'll likely run into problems.

PDF to EPUB conversions are horrible. The formatting is screwy.
