Is it possible to actually talk to someone at Google?
I am sick of the soup sandwich Gmail has become, and I would like to speak with a human being before I try to trim off the suckers from that tree. Any rational suggestions?

Their headquarters are only 45 minutes away, I'll drive over there and have a word with them if you like.

Try changing to an alternative free email service perhaps? I use a nice 'quiet' onecalled GMX that isn't used widely. No spam or intrusive adverts either Here:- http://www.gmx.com/

I ignore email for days, even weeks, on end. How the damned must scream? If anything important is worth knowing there is the postal system at present.

The problem is I have a few thousand emails in Gmail. I don't want to lose those.

They suggested I associate it with another email account to "recover" if I lost my password. As soon as I did that other account became my identity for Google. I have to log out of that account and log into my original account every time I start Gmail.Pappa wrote:What is it about Gmail that you don't like?Gawdzilla Sama wrote:I am sick of the soup sandwich Gmail has become, and I would like to speak with a human being before I try to trim off the suckers from that tree. You can select your default account in the account settings. After that it'll log you into that one instead.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:They suggested I associate it with another email account to "recover" if I lost my password. Unless this is happening just due to the dual login option. If so, just log out of both accounts then log in with the one you want to use.

Actually, I think the second thing I mentioned is probably what's causing your problem.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:Where is that, please?Pappa wrote:You can select your default account in the account settings. After that it'll log you into that one instead.
But if it's not, just go here and you'll find your settings: https://www.google.com/settings/

But if it's not, just go here and you'll find your settings: https://www.google.com/settings/
And that link just takes me to the login screen. Anyway WHERE in "Settings"? I did look there before I posted.

Re: Is it possible to actually talk to someone at Google?
In my previous post I mentioned two options. The second was dual login. If it's because of dual login, try logging out of both accounts, then just logging into the one you want to use. It'll be set as your default mail account.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:Second thing where?Pappa wrote:Actually, I think the second thing I mentioned is probably what's causing your problem.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:Where is that, please?Pappa wrote:You can select your default account in the account settings. But it sounds like you're already logged out.... so, if it'd to do with your gmail account's default email address. Log in to your account and go to that settings page I posted above. On that page it should list the email addresses that are part of the google account and one of them will be set as the default. You can change it there.

Only logged into my Gmail account once. And I'm not seeing that default setting.

When you log into Google with the gmail email address that you want to use, then go to this link: https://www.google.com/settings/Gawdzilla Sama wrote:Only logged into my Gmail account once. And I'm not seeing that default setting.
Do you see only one email address on that page, with "(Primary email)" after it?
