Important science question that has me stumped.

This is a question that's always bothered me.

How come Superman has amazing superhuman powers, and yet he's no more intelligent than the rest of us?
Why hasn't he got super-human intelligence?

Because his brain is set up to deal with all his super speed and extra powers and not for higher cognitive functions . DUH !

It is relative. Superman only seems to have superhuman powers because he can do things humans can't do by virtue of having a body that evolved on a planet with greater gravity. He is normal for his home planet. Gravity does not cause a selection for intelligence.

Because everything he does has to be written by human writers, who are by definition not superhuman. Writing for a character whose intelligence greatly exceeds your own is a bit of a problem; such an individual would by definition have to be able to think of things that you can't think of to write that the character thought of them.
