NASA has released a video of the plasma activity on the solar surface that resembles nothing so much as a string of dark tornadoes slowly twisting up into space. It is at once a thing of unnerving beauty and a stark reminder of our smallness within a vast universe. The solar twisters extend for thousands of miles, their choreography captured in the glow of fiery sphere that spawned them.
