Ray Kurzweil - Transcendant Man

Post by AshtonBlack » Thu Apr 14, 2011 9:58 pm

I'm watching the Transcendant Man by Ray Kurzweil.
For anyone interested here's the site
http://transcendentman.com/

The thing I took away from it, is the optimism the man has about the future.
One that I share. Anyone familiar with his work?

Me!!!

I've read a lot about Kurzweil and his ideas over the last few years. I've been reading through The Singularity is Near, and a lot of his ideas have influenced the novel I'm writing (which takes place in the year 2061).

I'm gonna have to go watch that movie. :tut:

Very. A college friend worked at his synthesizer company, I used to be engaged to a Kurzweil disciple, I've read a few of his books myself.
He's a little... well, fruity isn't the right word. Dorktastic? hmmmm.

But he's interesting.

Apparently he's been involved with trying to help Stevie Wonder see for the first time. From what I hear, Stevie's eyes are mechanically okay-- there's something that gets grfrbnled between his eyes and his brain. Kurzweil has been trying to figure out computerized interventions, akin in theory I think to cochlear implants for ears.

Did y'all see him on Colbert the other night?
