Toasters are exciting, especially when a bit of toast gets stuck and you have to scrape about it with a big steel knife.

No, you'll need something to generate neutrons and a method of creating a super critical mass of a suitable fissile material.

And a good remote detonation trigger.

I was rather hoping not to use my Microwave. It's where much of my dinner comes from.

I've got a Japanese mate, who reckons all I need for some fissile material is to turn up in the right place with a wheelbarrow and no questions will be asked.

I don't doubt....

Wrong sort of material, unless you got some friends in Iran who will let you use their centrifuge.

The problem with dealing with the right people is that you either know them already. or they be the wrong people.

Actually, toasters are fork testers...

Actually, if you had a big and powerful enough toaster, yes you would be able to split an atom. Does it need to be able to make perfect toast too ? That might need some serious tweaking, but with the right kit - it's do-able !

Actually, we should wait for the latest Consumer Reports ratings on that big Swiss Atom toaster...

The question is bass akwards. The real concern is whether Atom splitters, i.e. cyclotrons, like at CERN, :? can do anything useful, such as make toast?
