Hawking's New Book

Post by Trolldor » Thu Sep 16, 2010 5:02 am

Picked it up today and have been thoroughly impressed so far. Clear, concise and effective writing.

If I had to sum it up in a phrase it would have to be "WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW!?"
"The fact is that far more crime and child abuse has been committed by zealots in the name of God, Jesus and Mohammed than has ever been committed in the name of Satan. Many people don't like that statement but few can argue with it."

Ah, but Who made Hawking, huh, smart-arse?
So you are saying that the reason why God created the universe, including millions of years of human and animal suffering, and the extinction of most species, is so that at the end of all of that a select few humans could be with him forever. I see.

Remember Joe Pesci got made that time in Goodfellas?
It didn't turn out too well.

Ordered it with slow free delivery. And because it has no equations in it, I've also ordered Why Does E=mc2 by Brian Cox, which apparently does have lots of equations, just to balance things up a bit.

I am finding this book mind-blowing, it's completely changed my understanding of the universe - but the main thing I'm wondering is "Why did they never teach us this in A-level physics?"
