Hawking's New Book
Hawking's New Book
Picked it up today and have been thoroughly impressed so far. Clear, concise and effective writing.
If I had to sum it up in a phrase it would have to be "WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW!?"

Ah, but Who made Hawking, huh, smart-arse?
So you are saying that the reason why God created the universe, including millions of years of human and animal suffering, and the extinction of most species, is so that at the end of all of that a select few humans could be with him forever. I see.

Remember Joe Pesci got made that time in Goodfellas?
It didn't turn out too well.

Ordered it with slow free delivery. And because it has no equations in it, I've also ordered Why Does E=mc2 by Brian Cox, which apparently does have lots of equations, just to balance things up a bit.
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]
Re: Hawking's New Book
Got it today. Read the first 3 chapters on the way home. Good enough so far.

I am finding this book mind-blowing, it's completely changed my understanding of the universe - but the main thing I'm wondering is "Why did they never teach us this in A-level physics?"hackenslash wrote:Just read this. I'm waiting until it gets into the bargain bin.
Then I'm going to burn it.
because it's full of long words that will give me a headache.
and, no, I haven't read it. nor will I.
