Complex Molecules Found In Deep Space

Post by Xamonas Chegwé » Tue Apr 21, 2009 10:10 pm

Molecules that are more complex than any yet detected have been found in space. The search for extraterrestrial amino acids is a step closer.

Actually, there are molecules which can exist in space but would disappear too quickly to be observed on Earth. This is due to the extremely low rate of collision out in space. Highly reactive chemical species will therefor have nothing to react with and hang around, sometimes many billions of times as long as they'd last on Earth.

It's far more likely that there'd be amino acids in space than here, methinks. Low concentrations are probably the only reason we haven't detected them yet.
