46 v. 48, is that why Humans are different?

Post by Gawdzilla Sama » Tue Apr 07, 2009 12:16 pm

Humans have 46 chromosomes, other apes have 48. Two of our chromosomes fused into one a long time ago. That, to me, is a clue as to why we're different. Is there any work on this (that a mere human can understand) on the web?

Let Google be your friend. Putting chromosomes human ape into Ye Olde Search Engine appears to yield a few interesting results at a first approximation. :read:

Kenneth miller has done a lecture on it, that is also found on youtube.

I'd have to look it up.
