46 v. 48, is that why Humans are different?
Humans have 46 chromosomes, other apes have 48. Two of our chromosomes fused into one a long time ago. That, to me, is a clue as to why we're different. Is there any work on this (that a mere human can understand) on the web?

Let Google be your friend. Putting chromosomes human ape into Ye Olde Search Engine appears to yield a few interesting results at a first approximation.
