Simple. I have several clearances and my job is classified. He's been checked out by the people that check me out.
Let's try again shall we?

He knows a lot more: About what? Everything? I doubt it, but please elaborate.

He's NOT full of shit: He hasn't said anything substantial in this thread so far, or even offered up anything I'd call criticism. He's erected a couple strawmen and misrepresented what I've written. So he's not full of shit, but he hasn't said anything here to prove it.

Uh-huh, and what level of education do you have? What level of education does he have? It doesn't take much to become a Commander.

Sounds to me like you're the one full of shit.

What happened to you man? I thought you were cool.

I've responded to every "criticism" here so no that doesn't sum me up. I think I've come to wrong place for argument with substance..

Appeal to authority fail.
An appeal to authority is only a logical fallacy when the appeal to said person is outside their area expertise.
I can live with doubt, and uncertainty, and not knowing. I think it's much more interesting to live not knowing than to have answers which might be wrong. It doesn’t frighten me. - Richard Feynman

Yeah. I'm sure a commander has engineering, computer science, and mathematical expertise.

Looked too slow to be a missile. Have they confirmed it was an airplane?

I think Michio Kaku nailed it...

Hold on a second. Michio said it is changing direction, then later claims it is a commercial airliner. But if you look at the video the changes in direction are too rapid. Airliners do not 'wobble' their course like that.

"It's hard to disprove a negative.. blah blah blah.."

The interviewer raises a great point - if it is a contrail of a commercial jet we would know. We could identify exactly what plane it was, where it was going, where it came from, etc.. all that information is tracked very carefully these days.

Michio is making several assumptions, and waving away evidence contrary to his claims with silly things like "They need a better PR rep." and "It's hard to disprove a negative."

Meh.

I have a very hard time seeing it as a regular plane contrail, I must admit.

But, the speed is the first thing I noticed.

Kaku's discussion of the trail as actually indicating an eastward trajectory is also well taken.

As much as the expansion at the far end of the contrail looks odd to me, I find it difficult to believe that if it looked like a missile from more angles than the one we see it from, that there wouldn't be tons of videos and pics all over the net.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

I work for the Office of Naval Intelligence. My security clearance, I guarantee you, far exceeds yours.
ScienceRob is a former ballistic missile submarine sailor.
I'd say we've both got you beat cold in the "I know what I'm talking about" department!

It doesn't take much to become a commander, huh? And you know this how, exactly?
I guess my eleven years as a naval officer and a Masters degree in Strategic Intelligence doesn't compare to your understanding of applied math.

What good is your engineering background when you've got little more than a piece of video? You're applying conspiracy theories to things you don't have any experience in. You are completely full of fail, my friend - go work on your Critical Thinking skills.

Also: If you're defending yourself by not claiming it was not necessarily a US military thing, why did you start out by calling it "another bullshit DoD cover-up"?

You are winner Anthro. Have a prize

Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

I think Anthro should build one of these submerged launchers, pop a small payload on the missile and video himself launching it, then when he gets out of prison he can show us the tape and we'll compare it to the first one.

The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.
