Am I remembering correctly that the only place you can download applications is the Apple app store? Why would I want Apple deciding what programs I want or need?
That is until I saw a chap on the plane with a netbook which had a rotating screen (flipped around like a tablet). This little gem was running Ubuntu (though the fellow said that it came with Win7) and had a solid state hard drive, fit into his lap without crowding me (and I am a fat fucker in an airplane seat) and STILL cost less than an iPad.
I think apple is just hardware for people who don't want to/need to learn to use computers. I will likely get one of their devices for my Mom, when they get around to inventing it. (a 'net-phone' with camera and sound which she does not have to do anything but call and chat)
For now, I still think they are like jewelery. Pretty to look at, and a lovely way of showing off how stylish/wealthy you are.
