Awww!

The other day I saw a Chinese goose in amongst the Canada geese and mallards.

The current local couple on the river last weekend:

They usually have four to six cygnets.

These are some sort of aqua-cluck I saw in the sea a few days ago. Maybe one of the locals can tell what they are.

Faithfree swans can be so nice and beg for food BUT and angry swan close up is something else . I Swear Feck never looks at sheep because he met a swan when he was young , the damn thing tried to get through me to get to him and he thinks white things are dangerous !

Yeah, I enjoy looking at swans-- from afar.

Their necks and beaks are very strong. And they can be ornery.

'My' swans are still thinning out, although they are mostly confined to 3 patches of meadowland. I reckon the cygnet count will be high this year.

A few days ago I was in Stratford Upon Avon and the Avon River was infested with Swans. I'm used to black swans back home who swim around with their wings flat on their backs, and most of the swans I've seen over here do the same. But a lot of these were holding up their wings up above their body. What's that all about? Drying wet wings, or some perverted mating ritual?

I don't know-- but you managed to explain what seemed "off" to me about black swans-- no fluffed wings.
