You were a colonial power, constantly at war. We were largely uninvolved in European affairs and as a nation lacked any real desire to be involved in European affairs.

The Liberty Ship might have been ASSEMBLED in eight days. But that's with a huge workforce, and materials that were already manufactured. If you compare the man-hours needed to produce an extra jet fighter, to the man-hours to train an extra pilot, there is no comparison.
The pilot is a tiny loss, compared to the jet.

No. Because 'ought' is a subjunctive imperative and you used it as a subjunctive interrogative by phrasing it in a question. So, you see, the proper phrasing would be 'oughtn't' or 'ought not' as I said. It's to do with "grammatical mood".
