My father retired at 55, and lived to 83. He died of lung cancer after smoking for over 70 years. I do not smoke. I am 63, and expect to live to at least 90. My father had several non smoking brothers - all of whom lived to over 90. My mother died at 87, of an accident. Her only sibling lived to 105.
The 7 year figure does not apply to New Zealanders, anyway.
