It seems to be closely related to this White-line Sphinx.

yes, I agree, I definitely see a resemblance between the Sphinx moth and mine. perhaps mine is the new improved version. :-)

Your one is a lot more defined in its pattern. Its actually quite beautiful. I've been sitting here staring at it the last 5 minutes. It looks like a sci-fi moth :lol:

Its defo a sphinx moth.

What I don't get is how you couldn't find it with all your 'Googling'

I found it on the first page I searched with 'moths' on images :think:

it is pretty, thanks for looking closer. it is a mystery to me, now let's hear the scientists put it in it's natural place.

because THAT moth looks like mine, but there are some differences.

This one is called a lesser vine sphinx moth. Its a lot closer to the one on your pic.

definitely closer, I never saw that one. I think you found it. now I google "lesser vine sphinx moth" and I get many images of my moth.

Well, once I figured it was a sphinx moth of some type I just Googled 'sphinx moth and there it was.

Then I Googled lesser vine sphinx moth and I can now definitely say that's what it is.
