Hasn't Obama since gutted it further? :ask:
Given the debacle he was left everything had to be cut back.
It went up initially under Obama to a peak, and is estimated to go be down a little this year.

What Obama did that was a crying shame was cancel Constellation, and then lie to the media and the American people that he was canceling the Moon, but giving us the Solar System. He said he had visions of a manned mission to an asteroid, and to Mars. That was in April, 2009. We have moved, essentially, nowhere towards a manned flight to an asteroid or Mars.

It wasn't that he reduced the budget. It's that the mission changed to more worthless pursuits, which is why we don't have any new missions of the quality of Curiosity planned, let alone manned missions.

"Everything"? "Had to"? :ask:
Interestingly, there haven't been any real cutbacks. They just change the verbiage and stead of government spending, they call it government "investment." That lets them take it from the liability column and put it in the asset column.

I see some of the meteorological instruments seem to have been damaged in the landing. Bit of a shame, hope they sort out a work-around.

Martian weather reports are integral in my daily activity planning. On days Mars has weather I don't do shit.

Unlike Hubble, they can't just send a shuttle mission to fix it. :lay:

With three square feet roped off to retain a slight impression from Curiosity's right front wheel. (Admission will be 20 Ares per adult, 17.50 per child under 6 Marsyears old.)
