I had some in my fishtank for a while. I tried to take pics, but small, fast-moving fish in the dark under a black light don't show up very well on crappy digital cameras. I quite enjoyed my genetically modified fish. Unfortunately, Danio rerio don't have terribly long lifespans.

The end of the Mayan calendar always struck me as a particularly stupid end-of-the-world scenario.

Apparently that doesn't even work within the Mayan mythology -- they've made references to the future going up to the 4th millenium (by our calendar) on some stellae!

No, I'll just wait for you to sue me. Most of my friends are doing law degrees, so I'm set.

This idea is actually pretty scary.

Until you realize that bacteria are essentially the same thing as nanobots, and they haven't turned the world into a big mound of bacteria.

They're doing a pretty good job of it.

Because bacteria can be beaten by anti-bacteria, plus naturally killed or contained by other means.

However, I've read where research into nanotechnology is also creating "police" nanobots they can be dispersed to seek out and neutralize only wayward self-replicating nanobots. A most useful safety precaution, lest a lab experiment go awry and turn the earth into "Gray Goo" (as the scenario has been called).
