I don't see it as celebrating a birth. I've never seen my birthday as a celebration of my birth. Each birthday is a milestone to say I've made it another year without death by misadventure. It may be a waste of time. But it's the product of billions of years of evolution. Anyway, just because something's inevitable, that doesn't make it less scary.
If I fell out of a plane, at 15,000 feet, without a parachute, the fact that I was CERTAIN to hit the ground at over a hundred miles an hour wouldn't make it less scary. For me, having even the slightest chance, would make it less scary.
Knowing it's inevitable MAKES it scary.
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.
