Okay, the lists I saw was titled "Top Ten Living..." and was compiled from answers provided by grad students for their particular fields. Some of the fields I'd never heard of, some I had. "Vortex Dynamics" sounds boring, but the students get to chase tornadoes for field work.

Yep, they study vortexes so people can make better drains, among other things. I did student work at the Vortex Lab at Purdue.
