Given where it is on the list elements it would have been one of the first materials to be produced in quantity from supernova recycling in the universe? :zilla:

But it's comparatively rare, likely due to further stages of fusion.

and absence of correlation is weird if the presence of that oligo element is useful for improving both conditions, you'd expect sufferers of one to evolve into the other, at least a significant number.
