Of course there's such thing as a genius, silly girl. That's not to say that dedication and hard work won't produce positive results. But that's a separate matter entirely. Both can be true without canceling the other out.
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

I would rather put it thus (citing my youngest sister, who misquoted Edison on purpose): "Success is 1-2 % inspiration, over 90 % perspiration, and the rest just dumb luck - being in the right place at the right time."Dory wrote:"There is no such thing as a genius, it's all about dedication and hard work."
IMO those who eventually get called geniuses are the ones who were inspired by seemingly impossible ideas and who were stubborn / self-certain / deluded enough (whatever you want to call it) not to believe all the well-meaning people around them who told them why That Just Won't Work. So they were willing to endure the perspiration, and then they did get lucky somewhere along the way, too.
"The internet is made of people. People matter. This includes you. Stop trying to sell everything about yourself to everyone. Don’t just hammer away and repeat and talk at people—talk TO people. It’s organic. Make stuff for the internet that matters to you, even if it seems stupid. Do it because it’s good and feels important. Put up more cat pictures. Make more songs. Show your doodles. Give things away and take things that are free." - Maureen J
