The interesting thing about that quoted material is that without citing examples it doesn't seem like he's asking for a lot. It falls apart in him failing to show that people who accept evolution(I simply refuse to use evolutionist) are any worse than Christians in being rude to an opposing point of view. He is quite correct that being rude to drown out the other is party is not the way to go(think Bill O'Reilly). I don't think he can prove that creationists are superior in this way however.
I can live with doubt, and uncertainty, and not knowing. I think it's much more interesting to live not knowing than to have answers which might be wrong. It doesn’t frighten me. - Richard Feynman

He definitely does, here is the first video in the series:

EDIT: oops! I didn't notice someone had already posted it. I haven't seen this one in a while. Good Hitchens was really on the ball in this debate. I think this might be his best debate.

Oh fucking dear...

This guy says more sex education means more pregnancies...

That's such a demonstration of the whole point of sex education not to mention that it actually does reduce pregnancies not to mention it's a very effective tool at rasing awareness of various things like aids and gonorea. Not to mention that a pregnancy isn't exactly a bad thing and if a child would be unwanted well we have abortions (not being told they are evilz!) and the morning after pill.

Bad Hitchens can: :pawiz:

It's a funny thing that. I've seen it frequently used positively in scientific books published pre-90s IIRC (I'm pretty sure SJ Gould used it frequently), but it's since been hijacked. Now, if someone uses 'evolutionist' in a forum post, you can be 95% sure of their agenda.

I'd love for us to rehabilitate the term (rather than having to use "evolutionary biologist" etc), but I'm guess that ship's sailed. While I'm at it, my other wish is to swap the meanings of astrology and astronomy

Also there's a difference between 'evolutionist' the scientific researcher, and 'evolutionists' the person who understands and accepts (rather than believes) evolution.
