I do love rockets, shame they only let us have tiny model -rocket engines in the uk .

Oooff! The forces on those linkages between the shuttle and the main booster must be tremendous! I still find this kind of footage exciting, not to mention quite beautiful in its own way (but then again, I don't get out much...). However, sitting on 6,000,000 pounds of thrust is grossly inefficient considering the deliverable payload. 'Bout time the nations of Earth pooled their resources towards a viable space elevator don't you think?
