How are your orogenous zones?

Here in MO they are ground down to nothing. In Colorado there are some perky young tips.

Orogenous zones are fun till they turn around and bite you on the bum. My whole country is on an orogenous zone. Volcanoes and earthquakes. I normally enjoy looking at the results. I have even scuba dived alongside an active volcano and watched the hot gases bubbling up from the seafloor.

The problem comes when it hits home, which happened in Christchurch city, with the earthquakes that killed well over 100 people, and will cost up to $50 billion to rebuild.

For that price, you could rebuild the city somewhere a little less active! :tea:

To Xamonas

The funny thing is that the place Christchurch was located was considered 'safe'. The last major fault line movement was estimated to be 16,000 years ago. The aftershocks have now stopped, and there may well be no more for another 16,000 years.

...or 16 minutes. We live on an interesting planet. Weird thing is, if it wasn't trying to wipe us out with volcanos and earthquakes all the time, we wouldn't be able to live here at all! :tea:

It does have a bad case of flatulence. All them gases for the big scale Miller Urey experiment.
