I mean the circulation systems for the northern and southern hemispheres don't cross over a huge amount (relatively) and given all those nice green oxygen producing plants are asleep and all.

An idle thought.

The overwhelming majority of oxygen is produced by marine algae. Not sure how their output varies with the seasons.
