Timebomb Game Thread

Post by Zigmen » Mon Apr 04, 2011 4:15 am

Timebomb!!!!!

Image

You stopped by the bank on Friday and then, BLAMO! You've been hit over the head and dragged into the bank's vault. It's pitch black, except for the light from a single cellphone across the room. You hear one side of the conversation . . .

"There's no Dummy vests? You f%^&king moron! What was that chalk writing on the collars? What? Your seven year-old son did that so he could get the vests past security at his school on halloween? What the Christ?!!!"

Your head stops throbbing a bit, and your eyes get used to the dim light. You feel around and notice you're wearing a bomb-vest. There's a keypad on the front of it.

Again, you try to focus on the face of the person using the cellphone, but the blue glow just throws odd shadows. The conversation continues:

"Yeah, we got a way to get the money out. We were gonna try to hide among the hostages until the tunnel was finished. Codewords? Yeah, I don't need a pen. I have a good memory . . . "

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vote to add a point onto anyone's vest you like. There is no democracy here. You vote, and the point gets added to that vest.

Blue Votes are for your Mayor. Mayors may cast 2 votes per day.

The rule thread is pretty important, folks.

If we unvote, does a point get taken off?

GM RESPONSE: Just like a normal game, you can unvote at any time before nightfall.

This is in reposne to posts in the pg. I think we might as well bring the understanding of the game here.

Codewords: I guess it becomes clear at the start of day. (Maybe)We all start with zero points, but start of day there will be an update. Scum will be able to decode our scores. We will be able to decode our own. But Town won;t be able to decode other town scores. Something like that. I think we can safely discuss this in the game thread rather than the pg. It'll verge on game play in the pg. I like the idea of having to work out the game.

Not sure what you mean UT. If it's in town's interest not to vote, the game goes nowhere.

hmm yea that's true... because we won't be adding points to the scum's vests, either

How could that happen if we don't vote?

From what I've read of Zigmen's explanation, this is how I think to works ....

Each vote is a point on the votee's vest. Once a votee reaches six or more points, their vest is 'armed' .. iow, if their vest is at six or more points by the end of the game, they will explode. How many town, and how many scum explode at the end of the game will determine which side wins.

We can keep track of each others vote points, but from what I gather, we'll only know our own tally because the night moves points are only added to our score via PM.

As we are given our point tally each morning via PM, this means we aren't aware of each other's tallies. We won't know for sure when others become 'armed', and we won't know when we reach a point where people explode.

correction in RED

GM EDIT This Correction is in error. 6+ points is considered armed.

yes but town should win if they outnumber scum when the game is called, so it's in towns best interest to either keep the points down on everyone or dump all the points into a few people thus insuring a town victory.

Yeah, I thought about that ... I suspect the town:scum ratio may be different in this game .. possibly 50:50?

Actually, this makes sense, unless there's a lot of scum.

Actually, I don't know if that correction is ... correct ... I'll read the info again, because I'm not sure if it's been made clear whether those with six or more points will explode, or whether only those with ten will. I kinda think it's the latter, but ... yeah, will go back and read the details again ...

It's six points or more means death at the end of the game ...

From the OP of the Rules and PG thread:
Zigmen wrote:Welcome!

:naughty:

Standard rules apply. No posting of screenshots from outside the game thread. No PMing unless your role PM says you can. No editing posts. Etc.

The game will end when a sufficient amount of you are armed to explode. In Timebomb, nobody dies until the final day. At that time, everyone who is "armed to explode" will do so all at the same time.

Days are 24 hours. Nights are 12 hours. Game starts Monday at Noon EST.

Night moves are due one hour before daybreak. Missed moves may be skipped or randomized. You may ask for a non-move if you like.

Can I die?:

Since you cannot die until the end, the biggest threat to your team will be how many of you are "armed" to explode on the final day. Here's how that works:

You all have Bomb-Vests

These vests cannot be removed without exploding. Town and Scum all have vests on. Scum thought their vests were dummies, but they were quite mistaken.

Important!!!!!

Your vest starts with 1 "point" on it, out of a possible 10 points.

You do not want points on your vest.

If your points rise to 6 or more, your vest is considered "Armed." 5 points and below will keep your vest "Safe."

In other words, if you have 5 points or less, you are safe. If you have 6 or more, you're doomed to die.

How do you get points?

You will recieve 1 point on your vest for EVERY vote cast against you in the game.

You may also recieve/lose points through night actions.

How do I know how many points I have?

Check your Role PM for your codeword. It is a 10-letter codeword with no repeating letters. Each letter in your codeword is a number value for your vest's points.

Example: Your codeword is WaltDisney.

W=1
A=2
L=3
T=4
D=5
I=6
S=7
N=8
E=9
Y=10

See how you can read the codeword "WaltDisney?" You read it downwards.

Your codeword from your Role PM works Just Like This.

Every morning, just look at your name on the Roster, and read the Letter next to your name. If that letter is the 4th letter in your codeword, that means you have 4 points on your vest,

Why a code?

Well, let's just say that you might not want Scum to know that you have 4 points and only have to stick you with 2 more points to fully arm your vest . . .

But Scum knows a little bit more about these codes than Town does . . .
