The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.

That was me... when Bea said she was confused, I couldn't help but point out how that was the usual qualification for elective office, and voted for her.CookieJon wrote:Well done good guys!
I just KNEW you were guilty!!!sifaka wrote:I can't believe I survived this longYou were playing too dumb, and how on Earth did you get elected Mayor on day 1 again???

And I really wasn't "playing" dumb.... I can't point out enough how much I suck at strategy games.
Re: Dune 2.0 Game Thread
Bea was the second person I wanted to investigate, but as you know, I never got the chance. I wish I'd have gone for her on day 1 now ... (why didn't I just listen to me?!)
Oblivion, that was a great - I loved the Dune flavour - it fit the backstabbing and treachery of the Mafia game really well.
Since you asked, here's what I liked and didn't like (not nitpicking, mind you... just offering feedback as requested!)
LIKED:
- The Dune theme was great.
- Not knowing the roles made for some great surprises.
- No-PM Game forces more conversation in the public thread, and eliminated "cliques" (for want of a better word)
DIDN'T LIKE:
- Not knowing the roles made it too hard to strategise. If I'd have known about the "Blocker" role, I don't think I'd have blabbed my role & Virphen's innocence quite so early.
- No communication during night... I didn't really see the need for this, and it limited the amount of time I could play, especially since I'm at work for the best part of the day round.
- No writeboard!! A missed opportunity for some fun shenanigans by anonymous posting.
Virphen, the reason I went public with your role and mine was that since it was a no-PM game I figured it'd have to come out publicly at some stage. I thought there was a chance I could be killed at any time at random, so it would be best to clear at least two of us before I lost the chance. I was counting on the Doc protecting me for at least one more night during the game before the baddies killed me, but I didn't count on the role of the blocker hampering my next investigation.

I knew what you were doing, and I didn't have a problem with it, although it was a bit inconvenient given what I was trying to do. It was something Animavoe said that got me killed in the end, if you've read the scum thread.CookieJon wrote: Virphen, the reason I went public with your role and mine was that since it was a no-PM game I figured it'd have to come out publicly at some stage. Ani's post, coupled with my assumption that the doctor from the books would be the doctor in the game, didn't reckon on a jailer.virphen wrote:I knew what you were doing, and I didn't have a problem with it, although it was a bit inconvenient given what I was trying to do.
