Ok, now I can post again, the earmuffs were given to me night one, I wasn't told who by but I'm guessing ut, I was told I could use them or pass them on, since ut was bs Johnson, earmuffs could have done anything so I gambled on using them. They played a very soothing sound of volcanos and earthquakes so "I" decided to leave them on all day, that meant I wasn't able to hear anything in yesterday's thread and could only respond to fos and votes since I could see who was being pointed at. I also had to shout all my posts since I couldn't hear.

At least I saved someone else from them by using them, but yeah, what I said day 2 about Johnson, I was right. Bloody stupid.

So you weren't hinting about anything with the volcano stuff? Oh, dear.

Any new insights?

No, the volcano stuff was just what I was told in the pm, doesn't appear to be canon, I don't recall any earmuffs in any of the books.

Maybe it's not from the books, but I found Discworld earmuffs on this site:

Among other things, they protect against all effects of The Hedgehog Song, which I also had to look up. That's why I posted it. Thought it might break the spell.

Based on Athene, Amok, Feck and Ksen being town my scum pile is Shizzle, Gonzo, r.c., and DP in that order. Rc and DP are interchangeable at this point.

I'm sorry to keep harping on about this, but does that mean while he was playing he thought he was Town? Or was he playing with the Scum team? That makes a big difference when looking back at his actions.

Has anyone played a game with a Traitor role in it?

They normally know they are the traitor. They usually don't know who scum are or vice versa. They try to get townies lynched, expose specials, etc. If a seer views them they normally view as town, too.

It's always possible. I had a lovecraft themed game at TR that if more people had signed up for I was going to include a traitor who knew who scum were, and they knew who he/she was. They would have also been able to PM the traitor but not vice versa.

I don't know. The problem is, if MZ didn't actually know who was Scum, his FOSes and lynch votes would have been guesses, too.

But for what it's worth, this is what I found:

Day 1, FOSes Gonzo. Votes to lynch UT.

Day 2, FOSes and votes to lynch Irre. Unvotes and votes to lynch RC.

Day 3, FOSes DP. Votes to lynch DP.

A notable thing about the Day 3 vote, though, was it was at MZ 4.5, MattShizzle 4 just before MZ voted for DP. I don't understand why he didn't try to save himself.

MZ also white-knighted shizz on day 1 - sort of. He was discouraging a lynch of shizz and suggesting he be viewed instead. I guess we'll find out the state of things after today's lynch.

Earlier I noted who was online when the new day went up - if scum put the kill in straight away as soon as the day finished then one of the aforementioned could be scum.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and put something forward that's been bugging me like crazy. It goes back to the whole "weird win condition" issue.

Day 1, Irre said:

Except Mantis didn't see it, either. My suspicion of her was mostly based, in fact, on that I thought she was Scum jumping on the chance to say the same thing I did, knowing I'd flip Town if lynched. I thought I'd be lynched for that, and I was also thinking Scum would think I'd be lynched for that. I'm surprised I wasn't.

Of course, I was wrong about Mantis. But I really did see nothing weird about my PM. It's (beginning) to click a bit now, but that's hindsight.

Day 2, Feck said (bold added):

just for the record Mine did not actually give a win condition for town it said I was town and I would win with town but no mention of how town would win (ie it did not say "when all threats to town are eliminated" or "when all scum are dead" ..BUT I don't think Irre scum would have used the win condition thing on day one

You see, I thought RC had been trapped, because my PM didn't say ANYTHING after giving me my role. Not even "you win with Town." I backed off when Feck later said he hadn't been setting a trap, but at this stage, and keeping in mind that the PMs really might have been different for everyone...

There are only nine left, and six of us must be town. Was I really the only one whose PM didn't say ANYTHING other than my role?
