It had crossed my mind that ksen and you were scum ,but he seems to have nailed Rincewind
and I'm not sure Zig would have Rincewind as a safe claim or that scum would fake claim Him .

AFAICT, the main scenario is not a curse, but that UT invented earmuffs and managed to pass them off to either DP or someone who in turn passed them to DP.
