When people sign up they get posting rights in the game forum. Sign-up is at GMs discretion. It is a little bit more work for you red people but hopefully you wont mind if it means that the mafia will be uninterrupted by silliness.
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

Code: Select all

// Replaces with spaces the braces in cases where braces in places cause stasis
   $str = str_replace(array("\{","\}")," ",$str);

What if one/some of the people who sign up are disruptive?

There really is no way around it unless only known people are going to be allowed to sign up. If someone wants to ruin the game, they'll figure out a way to get in.

This is why I specified sign up at GM's discretion. We can at least operate a black list of known troublemakers then and if someone starts being disruptive during the course of the game they can have their posting rights in the game thread revoked.

How about this: if someone gets themselves banned during a game, exclude them from the next. Once they've managed to stay unbanned for the duration of a game they're not participating in (not counting if the previous game's ban carries over into the beginning of the next game, if you like), let them sign up again.

Works both for the people who find their bannable behavior upsetting, and for those who simply like to play mafia without having it be likely that the loss of a player will disrupt/possibly break the game.

Sorry guys. I won't be able to organize this game after all. I wish you well in your mafia adventures.

My apologies as well; I won't be mentoring this game, or playing here in the future. Any of y'all want to give this another shot, as far as I'm concerned you're welcome at TR and I'd be happy to be a mentor again.

Okay, some good ideas here ...

I hope we can sort this out to the extent that you will both reconsider ... We can continue to discuss this in the 'staff moderation of mafia games' thread.

I've suggested this in the mod forum. So far most of the staff who have responded agree it's a good idea.

I want oblivion and sparklecat to reconsider, too.

Thanks, charlou. Your handling of this whole thing has been fantastic. Some of the staff could learn a lot from you. :flowers:

I agree. Thank you Charlou.

And I hope Oblivion reconsiders. I for one really appreciate all the work she puts in these games

You're a great GM Oblivion, please stay :hugs:

Frankly, I'm not sure how well this will work long term without oblivion's involvement.
