What if it is one of the Harkkonen scum leaders, and they get so nervous that Cookie is whacked in the night due to revealing it?ksen wrote:I think it matters a bit. So I went to investigate someone else, but then...
I was visited by an alluring and amourous woman so we had it off instead (i you know what I'm saying), and I never got round to the investigation, sorry guys!

Re: Dune 2.0 Game Thread
Ok, so someone blocked my investigation. How does that work?
- Is the block a one-off thing, or can it be done every night until that player is eliminated?
- Can anyone block, or is it just the person I was going to investigate? (in which case I'll tell you who it was)
Further...
- Did they block my investigation because I might have revealed something about Ani (he's guilty), or
- Did they block my investigation to make it look like Ani didn't want his identity revealed (he's innocent)
Confused.

Well . . . I wouldn't have a problem if that happened.Normal wrote:Oh, I thought he left the forum to have sex with someone.ksen wrote:He tried using his powers but got blocked.Normal wrote:Grrr, this cannot be! You didn't use your powers? Where is your sense of responsibility, man?

The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.

Blocking is a particular role. In games I've played the blocker role is usually called the prostitute and it cannot be exercised on the same person on simultaneous nights. Also in my experience the Prostitute is normally a scum role or at least non-Town.CookieJon wrote:Ok, so someone blocked my investigation. How does that work?

That''s my anecdotal experienc so take it for what it's worth.
Unless you said in the thread that you would be viewing Ani I don't know how scum would have known who you were targeting.Further...

I think it's more likely that they decided to block you from getting a view while they went after the doc for the kill. My guess is that with the doc out of the way you are their target for tonight.
The more info Town gets the better. Who did you put in to view last night?

Virphen and AshtonBlack, we hardly knew ye. I have to say, I find it curious that Animavore was so adamantly with pleading CookieJon not to investigate him yesterday and after CookieJon declaring that he was going to investigate Ani, he gets roleblocked. It's kinda funny that the Harkkonen would bother blocking CJ if he were about to investigate an innocent player, don't you think?
Re: Dune 2.0 Game Thread
I don't think we can assume that the characters here will always have the same alignments as the books. And as I remember, there is some treachery, so someone could be aligned differently depending on where in the story we are.
Also, I also would like to know who was scheduled for a view. And why.
And lastly, I would suggest that town at least entertain the though that ksen is scum, as someone seems to be informing scum of how to use their roles, etc. And Ksen would be able to do that. Keep that in mind.

Re: Dune 2.0 Game Thread
Err, wait, it might have been virphen that jailed CJ last night. I read on the wiki that the jailer often doesn't know that he's a jailer and may think he's just a regular doctor so virphen might have tried to protect CJ and inadvertently roleblocked him?
Re: Dune 2.0 Game Thread
More -- if you decide ksen might be scum it might be best not to reveal who you were going to view.
Re: Dune 2.0 Game Thread
I doubt that happened. Virphen was Thufir Hawat.heyzeus wrote:Err, wait, it might have been virphen that jailed CJ last night. CJ said he was blocked by an alluring woman. Thufir is not a woman.

I"m open to a convincing argument for testing the truth of someone's claims.

Re: Dune 2.0 Game Thread
Sure, I could be scum (I'm not) but I've put out the statement that I am Town for the lie-detector to investigate if he wants to. So that question should be able to be settled rather quickly.higgs2 wrote:More -- if you decide ksen might be scum it might be best not to reveal who you were going to view.
In fact . . . everyone should go ahead and claim Town.
Re: Dune 2.0 Game Thread
Inconclusive - they perhaps blocked me to make Ani look suspicious, and have people say "It's kinda funny that the Harkkonen would bother blocking CJ if he were about to investigate an innocent player", or words to that effect.heyzeus wrote:Virphen and AshtonBlack, we hardly knew ye. I never had any intention of investigating Ani, as I suspect he's one of the innocents; I only said I would investigate someone I suspected was innocent to make the scum think twice about assassinating me. I had no idea there were roles which could block particular actions, however.
I don't think there's any point in saying who I actually tried to investigate, unless it turns out that the blocking role only works if they are the one being investigated. I suspect, however, that anyone can block, but as has been suggested, not on 2 consecutive nights.

So are we looking for another woman or are we still looking at the monkey?
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.
