I 've got to stop sleeping again I see ... I'm suspicious of Higgs and Ghat , This all moved very quickly ,Gallstones and Normal are not being very town either .

I'll re-read when I'm awake properly . why when the only reason to vote was non posting did the BW move from Morticia to Totals ? I nterrested in those that jumped in to vote on Mono too.

I was just reading back through this thread and noticed one of my posts has been edited .. I didn't say the part I've bolded.
Charlou wrote:mononoke was vanilla town .. hmmm

higgs2, morticia and totals are all claiming to be vanilla town .. how likely are they to all be truthful about this? How likely is it that we have 4 vanilla town in a game with just 11 players?
with 11 players, we probably have 3 scum and 3 specials - doc, vig and seer. that leave 5 vanilla town.
I checked the moderator log and found that oblivion (who now has mod permissions in the mafia forum, including post editing) has edited my post. I'm pretty sure this was an inadvertant slip on oblivion's part and that she meant to hit the quote button instead of the edit button on my post, and the bolded part is her intended reply to me.

Just wanted to mention this for the record.

Yikes. Sorry. No idea how or when I did that. I'll pay more attention to the buttons and their locations.

I do remember "replying" to that post to say that the game likely has 5 vanilla town.

I've done it myself, and so have other staff .. when the two buttons were side by side .. embarrassing. The post edit and post quote buttons have since been separated with the four other little buttons we have now between them. hmmm I see you only have the post report button separating the two which would make it easier to make that mistake.

Do you need the mod's post edit facility to mod this area, oblivion? If not, it might be easier to just remove that so the mistake isn't made again.

I don't think I need the capability. In mafia as a GM I have intentionally edited posts (usually just soft deleted them) if someone posted something game-breaking, such as a player who was out of the game posting the results of their view, or someone posting a screenshot of their role PM if I got to it before players saw it. almost always, by the time the GM sees a problem like that, so have players and the GM has to figure out how to make things right and salvage the game.

However, I have needed to edit my own posts after the edit window a few times. Is it possible to keep that capability and lose the ability to edit other people's posts?

(sorry I'm posting back to back) it's 1:15 am, and I'm awake for some reason...but not exactly coherent.

Probably not. I think we'll leave it and I'll see if something further can be done about the position of the edit button. Other than that, hopefully it won't happen again.

Oblivion you posted online seven minutes after my first post. So whatever "power vacuum" was there had been there, right up until you and I got there. YOu ended up mayor, but I did suggest the scum was probably laying low whih was a theory people seemed to agree with over all, including you. I don't usually want to become mayor and step up to fill the power vacuum if I don't have to, I play differently that you do and my game is still evolving. I'm not the timid student any more.

I claimed vanilla with one vote and several distracting fos's. Also, goading me about mayor voting Charlou was stupid. The other option was lynch vote over the fluff, and that would have bee a mistake. You and I disagree about some things about this game. I know that you have set yourself up as an authority on all things mafia over here, but there is more than one way to play. Also, right or not there was plenty of time for me to make a decision to mayor vote charlou there was 25 minutes. So your previous post saying there wasn't time is not correct.

I hope people don't start following oblivion to the point that she pings, they follow. I've seen her be very wrong in her assumptions. I've also seen her play a devious scum.

when I came into the game it was like the sargasso sea. No wind in the sails. nobody was being pressured. nobody was pressuring and it had basically been that way since Monday with the exception of a little pressure from Ghat toward Denny. When I came in, started asking question and started fosing people, then stuff started to happen. Why was no one doing that before I joined the game?
When we came in,7 minutes apart, we started asking questions and fosing people. Go back and look at the times. Up until then no one was really even posting much.

I'm disagreeing with oblivion and Ghat about gallstones. I could be wrong, but I think gallstones is playing how she usually plays (so far as town) .. watching and making measured voting decisions when she's good and ready ... If gallstones is scum, she's not exploiting bw opportunities the way scum usually would.

I'm finding it difficult to settle on who to vig kill ... two players are vieing for it every time I review the day's activity .. along with the usual paranoid 'what ifs' about everyone else.

Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

when GMing, to update either the beginning of day or end of day posts. It hasn't happened often, but I have had to get help from one of the mods occasionally.

Ok, I have looked at that. I didn't realize the time difference was so small. that does lower the intensity of some of my concerns.

Rereading, I am seriously weirded out that there were just over 1 page of posts after one and a half days.

Yep, oblivion's mod edit capability is just for GM purposes in her mafia games. Zigmen has this for his games, too.

It only came up in this thread due to the accidental edit of my post. I considered PMing her about it, but as the accidental edit was game related I thought it better to post it here, for the record.
