i was same with my thoughts on irre, scum had tied us up in knotsUselesstwit wrote:I wouldn't be to worried about it gib, I was really out of it last night. I was actually thinking ksen almost had to be one of them while i was away yesterday. Really have no idea why i voted for you to be honest.
yup, i guess the lesson here is don't rely on specials to find scumA don that views as an indie, that's a tough one.
i'm going to try to listen more and talk less in the next few games. I need to make notes too, at certain times i had almost completely cleared grit in my head (deep down i knew he wouldn't take a scum performance outside the game so he had to be town), also mantis at several points i saw towntells, then i proceeded to forget all that and start thinking they were scum
mind you it's hard enough finding time to play what was pretty much a round a 24/7 game - finding extra time to make notes is tough when there's chat all night

Re: Starfleet Finale
Thanks for game, zig, and gg scum.
*clears throat* adenosine, I'm so so so so so so sorry :beg: I hope you'll forgive me. The good news is, I only do that once per player
Zigmen, no offense but this game design was not your best. A don should not view as an indie IMO if there is only one town seer.
Bili: as yoda would say, slimy scum game, that was.

Thanks for the game zig, well played scummers.
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

Re: Starfleet Finale
Heh. It is always interesting reading the boards after the game.
There are a couple of things that I would like to address...
In regards to my gawd-kill...I would like it clear to everyone that I hold nothing against Zigmen. He was very kind to me and was a sounding board for my frustrations that had nothing to do with him.
About the "not wanting Oblivion to be mayor" post:
I "knew" (quotations because I had no way of really knowing) that both Irre and UT were town right off the bat. I had doubts after I was g-killed that UT was town with the "we" falter, but my first reaction was that he was town. My problem was that I had no idea how to act towards them. When I gave my synopsis on Day 1, I left them vague because I know that I am always scum, regardless what my alignment is
, and I did not want to implicate them. I wanted to follow Irre's FOS on Ksen like a rabid doberman, but I was tentative because there was so much early game suspicion cast on both of us (and no good reasons given really) that I truly did not know how to follow up.
My game question is...how do I support someone whom I think is town, but some people think are scum? To me, Irre was obviously town...after reading the scum board I still don't understand why bilirubin said that she was giving off "scum tells" (more on "scum tells" later). I didn't want to appear "chummy", but upon reflection maybe I should have gone with it since my lynch flip would have revealed me as town. How do I become a better town player other than stalking people, giving updates on them, putting forth ideas about meta (I had a speadsheet for this game) and giving my opinion? Really? That was not enough? I bet I was bandwagonned because someone had a "gut feeling".
I did not want Oblivion as mayor for the reasons that I gave, especially since she seemed bent on that either Irre and I (or both) were scum. She had a posting restriction. I figured that Irre was town and knew that I was and figured her judgment was skewed. I still say that we do not need to vote the same people as mayor in every game. It has nothing to do with Oblivion as a person.
I am really disturbed that this even became an issue, e.g. that I did not think that Oblivion should be mayor in this game.
Brings me to another point about that fiasco...I am astonished at what some players are allowed to get away with as far as gameplay goes here. Ksen was wifoming up a storm and from my perspective no one was calling him on it and on his end he was getting called on it left and right. Interesting that. He seemed to have felt picked on and so did I.
Which really alleviated a lot of resentment I was developing, playing in this game.
So I am rethinking (because I guess feeling picked on is not uncommon), but there needs to be at least a modicum of acknowledgment that there is a different Mafia culture from site to site.
Like Bilirubin's idiom from Damian; unless you are a TR player, you would have missed that. It is in itself exclusionary, but I bet he did not mean it that way.
"Scum tells"...they are whatever you read into the post so that one can justify lynching. I think that sometimes we get lucky. Some people are luckier than others.
Thank you, Zig, it was fun!

Very well played game scummeisters. My hat is off.
I'm sorry gib. But I was pretty sure Irre wasn't scum which narrowed it down to you and/or ksen. After night one I was so confident that we'd have the game wrapped up in no time and it came down to some shockingly bad play on my part.
Sorry town.
And no worries Irre, really. While it got slightly frustrating at times (because you were wasting your formidable scum hunting talents on me) it mainly wasn't a big deal.

Re: Starfleet Finale
Thanks for being so magnanimous, adenosine! I get badly trolley-tracked every so often, it really is something I need to work on.
Re you playing badly, I disagree. It was because you played such a good town game when you were scum on FF that you playing as town just confirmed in my mind your scumminess
I think scum got some amazing breaks... for one, bili viewing as indie was even better for him as don than to view as town. Also, the diva godkill gave scum a good break on the very shortened day 2. I am assuming that I was right to think WTF about a player supposedly having a one-off busdriver ability.
Someone on TR sagely said that a game design should be able to be figured out by the players. A don viewing as indie could never be figured out IMO. As there was only one night-kill each night, a viewed indie really would appear harmless to town.

Re: Starfleet Finale
It's a good question diva. This was a weird game for me, I always felt like i was half a step out of line the whole game, never really felt connected to anyone. As for improving a town game, the key is to be fearless, when you flip town no one will go back and see how you interacted with people. so just say what you think.
