Ok FBM; fair enough, though also see my previous post.

And just to clarify, the threat to suspend me on JimC's part was due to suspicion that I was someone's sock rather than, as stated, because of what I'd just posted?

I don't think so? I actually don't know where that warning came from and will have to wait for JimC to explain it.

Cool. Oh, and it might help to know that whenever possible, we avoid acting solo with something like a suspension. We have staff-only threads where we discuss what should be done. It takes time for other staff members to get online, review the events and make suggestions. As a result, there's often a time lag between when the problem is first noticed or reported and the corresponding action is taken in the thread.

So that's a no on the corporate responsibility thing, then; ok.

I really don't see this proceeding well, as things stand, but oblivion has more experience with him in a moderator context than I do; I just get the impression that he responds poorly to attempts to exert authority. I doubt he and this forum are the best fit, overall.

Read it carefully: it was not a threat to suspend, it was a prediction you were heading in that direction, given your comment about FBM, and a suggestion to change direction...

Heh. I remember from my own time as a mod what a pain waiting around for enough people for a consensus could be, and the pressure to do something about a situation currently in progress without that consensus. And how badly that could end up backfiring. It just looked really bad from this end; Bart could probably say more about how he perceived it, but I imagine I captured some of what he had a problem with, himself, at the time.

Ah, so it wasn't due to any suspicions of sock-puppetry!

I fear you may want to work on your predictive powers, given that I've gone full speed ahead in the direction of my initial post and have not been warned or suspended yet. :(

I don't see the difference, Jim. It was unnecessary - we don't warn about suspension for criticising staff action. We don't warn about suspension for criticism, full stop.

Those smilies are only the tip of the iceberg. :hehe:

Glad to talk to all of you and thanks for helping me understand a bit better. However, I really need some sleep. Good night and talk to you later. :shiver:

Or you could just take the low-hanging fruit and give me a :pawiz:

Anyway, glad we've cleared the air. Thanks for explaining your concerns and giving me the chance to explain how things developed from this perspective. :td:

OK Charlou, you seem like a sweet kid and I see what you're trying to do here. Sorry if I offended you.

But seriously, look at FBM's post. If anybody here needs to shut the fuck up it's <post edited in accordance with Play nice, please rule guidelines>

:nono: Not a mod comment.

It would be nice if you would read this thread in particular to see what has gone on in your absence, please, Bartholomew Roberts. A lot has happened since you've been gone.
