Re: Starfleet Day 3
sleeplessnesses ftl.
when day 2 started I had some questions about gib. His switching from denny to ksen on day 1 bothered me. I think I posted in my first post on day 2 that all my town reads were reset to zero. I was talking about gib primarily. he re-convinced me he was town yesterday, but at the end of day 1 I was not certain.
Another thing that bothers me is how my sleeplessness has affected my reads. I posted late during night 1 chat that Irre had moved up a bit on my townish list, mostly because she'd posted something ambivalent when she voted Denny. given that he was almost certain to be lynched, I would have expected scum Irre to come out more emphatically that he looked scummy. she could have justified it based on bilirubin's scumhunting and dennyb's reaction.
then reading the posts that had occurred while I had worked on my state-of-oblivion message, I found that several other players were focused on her as a higher probability scum. I listened, but I was a little disturbed that people I thought were town weren't thinking what I was thinking.
Then late Night 2, I wound up rethinking Irre again and seeing her in a less scummy light. I seem to be out of synch with players I think are town, at least in some respects.
and I am not sure whether I trust myself or their observations more.
anyway, at this point my list looks close to Mantis' but we have a bunch more facts in hand, which push players to particular positions on the list.

Re: Starfleet Day 3
for the sake of tabularization
Mantis, UT
Unsure from most to least -
Adenosine - in part due to unfamiliarity, in part due to putting some weight on Irre's scumdar
grit - everything about our past interactions elsewhere is unexaggerated truth. We go back to about December 2004. I got the Christine reference. It seems a little off to bring our long-running internet friendship up in a mafia game, though. I'm not sure town-grit would do that
bilirubin - unlike the people FoSing him, I see nothing scummy in his game. I see aggressive scum hunting. I see pressure votes applied strategically (btw I was doing the same thing for similar reasons when our votes were close in time). I see thoughtful analysis. And I know I've seen all of this when he's scum, too. But he hasn't played in months and I don't know if his scum game would be so goddamn townish.
Townish -
Irretating - the block details have been confirmed. non-zero chance the roleblocker blocked scum the first night to learn the form of the block text and to potentially partially clear one of their own
gib - this looks like his town game. the veerings from thinking similarly about players and circumstances may be a function of my lack of sleep more than anything.
ksen - his role claim and night action claim make sense of an otherwise wtf scumblock.

Mantis: was there some additional event that occurred subsequent to irre voting for herself and before I removed my vote from her?
Re: Starfleet Day 3
jesus christ I'm tired. disaffirmationism.
left off feck, though I summarized my thoughts earlier I think. He is in my unsure bucket but more toward scummy than aenosine.

and i may not be - i've been burning the candle at both ends to make time for this game - i could slip into sleep right now - but i'm enjoying it so much i don't begrudge the sleep debt i'm building up. I reckon i have about 3 hours left in me. btw you don't have to keep voicing yr doubts about me if you're doing it for the reason i think u might be doing it. Hope u get the reference btw

nope I was responding togib wrote:UT, i'm assuming this post was in response to bili asking you if you are paying attention to the game. In that case i have to ask what you mean by:Uselesstwit wrote:yes, yes we are. he wasn't involved much in the late night chatter, but right out of the gate he slams down a vote that most people are going to be okay with. Then he unvotes with the barest excuse and only after questions the rational. Also, i really don't buy mantis's story. if you'll notice she says the green ROMULAN, when has a gm ever given away the alignment of a blocker like that? Something smells, i don't like her story and i don't like how quickly bili bought it.
yes, yes we are
Still catching up on the rest of the thread but a few people seem to be hung up on this.oblivion wrote:confrontations...are we reading the same thread?Uselesstwit wrote:vote bilirubin
His vote right out of the gate feels like he's trying to get ahead of the bw, then the way he so easily buys mantis's story. Just doesn't seem very town to me.

would grit be motivated enough to win a game as scum in such an underhand way (the personal refs, the cross-board hooha)? Cos if he really is quitting then i don't see why he'd piss you off over mafia, and if he's lying about quitting then boy, he must know how much shit he'd get for this and for how long.
so i decided a while ago today that he's town
does this sound ok so far, there;s a little more
this is close to what i was getting at with my grit paranoia thing, but you're seeing it differently to me - i'll try to explaingrit - everything about our past interactions elsewhere is unexaggerated truth. It seemed pertinent to the "bury your brain" bit. It was familial. I was reluctant to post commentary about it at all, but gib's uneasiness seems genuine rather than tactical, so I thought it helpful to say.oblivion wrote:grit - everything about our past interactions elsewhere is unexaggerated truth. without grandiloquence, it's a different way of looking at it, and maybe it's a different mindset than I have. I wouldn't begrudge scum-grit reminding me of how far we go back, and it wouldn't affect our out-of-game friendship.gib wrote:[raven you saidthis is close to what i was getting at with my grit paranoia thing, but you're seeing it differently to me - i'll try to explaingrit - everything about our past interactions elsewhere is unexaggerated truth. but do go on. I'm weighing a lot of stuff against a strong townish vibe I got from him during the fallout from his posting the writeboard url, and I tend to rely on that sort of vibe (when I get one) more than I do the objective stuff.
