I love it when a plane comes together!

How about these models.
“I wish no harm to any human being, but I, as one man, am going to exercise my freedom of speech. No human being on the face of the earth, no government is going to take from me my right to speak, my right to protest against wrong, my right to do everything that is for the benefit of mankind. I am not here, then, as the accused; I am here as the accuser of capitalism dripping with blood from head to foot.”

Dammit, the real thing would probably have been easier to build.Pensioner wrote:How about these models.

This 'hypersonic test vehicle' which went missing again while being tested? I have not managed to track down an actual photograph - its all artists impressions etc. I know it is probably hyper secret as well as hyper sonic (geddit?)..er..but I smell something fishy..

I’m a member of a scale radio control model site and one of the guys is building a flying model of the Catalina. It is huge. It will be electric powered and have a sound system on board to reproduce the sound of the engines.
This video is the best one I have ever seen of a Radio Scale Model in flight. Imagine using the same technology and flying the Cat over Castle Archdale that I would love to see.

Excellent!
I'm currently building a kit of the asymmetric Blohm & Voss 141, which is an weirder design than the 138. It would not make for a good RC model though.
Pics of newly completed kits coming soon ... when I complete them.

Nice job, but no sound system will ever be able to even approximately approach the amplitude of the noise a Catalina makes.Pensioner wrote:It will be electric powered and have a sound system on board to reproduce the sound of the engines.

Impressive. I don't think that system can ever replicate the sheer massiveness of the noise, though. I remember watching Catalinas landing and taking off at Rose Bay, a part of Sydney's harbour. Even from about 300 metres away it made my ears want to flee to the back of my head. Qantas operated a regular run between there and Lord Howe Island until 1971. The last Catalina took off from Rose Bay in 1977.Pensioner wrote:The technology has improved over the last few years and it will get better.Seraph wrote:Nice job, but no sound system will ever be able to even approximately approach the amplitude of the noise a Catalina makes.Pensioner wrote:It will be electric powered and have a sound system on board to reproduce the sound of the engines.

Note, they had four engines. The model above seems to have only two.
