Keep the dried food separate so it can eat as much as it likes .The wet food give it slightly less than it says in the instructions ...um don't give it milk, just water. .

Wet food isn't necessary. You can give it to them as a special treat occasionally, but you shouldn't think they have to have it or anything. For dry food, you can fill the dish once a day. Don't worry if it runs out. It's not like it has to be full all the time. You might instead pour out two smaller portions over the course of the day, once in the morning and once in the evening for instance.

All my dogs have regulated their own diets I just put a sack of hound food on the floor and they have helped themselves They will however beg borrow or steal human food and make pigs of themselves. Most of the cats I've had seemed to eat all of the wet food I gave them ...normally about 1/2 the amt recommended
and made up the rest of their needs by helping themselves to a bowl of dried food left out for them without over eating.
