Gosh, I don't know. I'd look into why so many Chrome processes are running. It would be worth closing chrome and running FF (or whatever the other browser was) and seeing how many FF processes show up. There should only be one FF process. If you've got a stack, then you must have some sort of malware that is co-opting your browser to do something.

Seems to be two schools of thought as to whether or not Chrome needs to open a new process for each tab. It also appears that it's not good about closing the process when the tabs are closed.
And I found a spybot extension already.

It does, or at least it dos with me, which I suspec is part of why it's such a memory hog. (I usually have a lot more pale moon tabs than chrome tabs, but chrome is apt to hog half of my total memory usage)

Evidently you can "Target" it to one process, but if any tab crashes the whole thing goes down. That's not a great tragedy for me.Svartalf wrote:It does, or at least it dos with me, which I suspec is part of why it's such a memory hog. Chrome is spyware.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:Seems to be two schools of thought as to whether or not Chrome needs to open a new process for each tab. It also appears that it's not good about closing the process when the tabs are closed.

Anywho, have you tried turning it off and on again?

I'm now questioning whether to even reinstall Palemoon. I suppose I could do it just to test.

Are all your problems centred around browser issues? Does your computer lock up or do odd things when you trying something else like play a DVD, play a dowloaded movie, run a videogame, use photoshop, etc. ?

So far as I can tell, no. But that doesn't mean I'm 100% sure, just that I'm usually browsing when the freeze-ups happen.PordFrefect wrote:Are all your problems centred around browser issues? Okie dokie.. that would seem to eliminate a hardware problem. It should be happening across the board if it was one.

Unless the other programs had a more robust way of working around it than the browsers.PordFrefect wrote:Okie dokie.. that would seem to eliminate a hardware problem. It should be happening across the board if it was one.
