Daniel Loxton wrote:The Skeptics Society is proud to reveal the first full-color, hardcover, illustrated English-language book based upon Junior Skeptic.
Published by Kids Can Press (February, 2010), Evolution: How We and All Living Things Came to Be is a straight-ahead introduction to the fact of evolution, to its mechanisms, and to the misunderstandings that surround it. The book aims to explain how evolution works — and how we know for a fact that it happens. It is suitable for readers aged 8–13.
Initial Reviews:
— Michael ShermerThe best damn evolution book for kids, period.
(Why Darwin Matters: The Case Against Intelligent Design)
— Donald ProtheroA wonderfully clear, up-to-date, and well-illustrated account of how evolution works. The scientific content is first-rate.
(Evolution: What the Fossils Say and Why It Matters)
— Quill & QuireA full-throated defense and explication of Darwin’s theory…kept light and accessible by Loxton’s sense of humour and breezy prose style.

Cool. Kids books are so much better illustrated than ours. I have a Gould edited paperback, The Book of Life, readable for a middle schooler.

Said Peter...what you're requesting just isn't my bag
Said Daemon, who's sorry too, but y'see we didn't have no choice
And our hands they are many and we'd be of one voice
We've come all the way from Wigan to get up and state
Our case for survival before it's too late
Turn stone to bread, said Daemon Duncetan
Turn stone to bread right away...

And even Gawd can buy this, it's printed in Canada.

This book won a few awards and had to be published in Canada due to the fact that he couldn't get it published in America as American publishers thought it was too controversial.

I always read Junior Skeptic first when the mag comes in. They have the fun stuff there. I pdf'd the one on von Donutholes and posted it at abovetopsecret.com. :twisted:Animavore wrote:This book won a few awards and had to be published in Canada due to the fact that he couldn't get it published in America as American publishers thought it was too controversial.

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

How so? Merka is filled with people who don't want other people to think thoughts they themselves are afraid to think.tattuchu wrote:UnfuckingbelievableAnimavore wrote:This book won a few awards and had to be published in Canada due to the fact that he couldn't get it published in America as American publishers thought it was too controversial.

I like to imagine it's not quite as bad as all that here in this country. Perhaps I'm mistakenGawdzilla wrote:How so? Anyway, the book looks like an interesting read. And it has pictures, so that appeals to me. I mean, er...will surely appeal to kids
