Saved RDF threads - thank you

Postby NineBerry » Tue Feb 23, 2010 3:55 am

I will try to make sure no content is lost. I already got 2% of all public content. Will take some days to get everything in a fair way (so not to stress the rd.net server)

Here's the download: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/224795/RD/Full-RDF.rar

The download is 653 MB.
The unpacked version needs approx. 6 GB.

When unpacked, start by opening index.html.

Somebody just pointed me to some free software that may allow downloading of the whole forum. I'm checking it out now.

I am already doing that. Shouldn't be done by too many people or the server will be under stress. All public content of the forum together has an estimated 10GB (uncompressed)

Thanks for doing that btw.
I'm surprised the GB isn't higher though.

Already got 5% which means all threads started prior to Jan 2007. Will go to bed now and let the software continue working :-)

Hey.

Got most of the forum saved for offline viewing (almost done).
Anyone interested? Several gigs so far...

I'll see if I can include a fulltext search function.

Unfortunately though, I couldn't save anything from those accounts that got deleted prior to my backup, obviously :(

That would be marvellous. Truly marvellous. Would there be any possibility of hosting somewhere online - even through a file-sharing app or something? Or is it too big? I'm suspecting it might squish our servers here if it were hosted...

That's a real shame. :(

Sure thing. I will upload it asap. I'm considering to send out DVDs as well if people are not too scared to give me their shipping address :naughty:
My upload speed is not that fast...

Torrents work good for uploading. The bandwidth is shared as long as the people downloading it share it as well.

Here's the one thread taken from my backup: http://www.neunbeere.de/ExtRef/Climate.zip

Internal links (so one can navigate between the pages) will be added until Sunday.

Right now I think Cali is making backups of Debunking Creationism. I know others are doing the same, but Cali will want backups of his own.

I've copied a bunch of formal debates, and posts from the Reptile Threads parts 1-3. And I managed to screen capture various things before the dodgy, cowardly censorship by the turd-burgler.
