The first pic "socialist feminist whimsy" was also hilarious. Because whimsy is what everyone relates with socialism and feminism (and to tell you the truth my brain read it as whiny).

Its nonsense. The Fringe has always had a fair share of good female and feminist comedy along with bone fracturing brutal uncomfortable humour again often from women and a lot more besides. There is a place for everything in humour and that includes both misogyny and misandry. It takes a sharp ear and a long memory to see how some female performers have basically re appropriated the traditional acts that used to do the working men's club circuit for a female audience and it takes blinkers to ignore the influences of women from the terrible Jo Brand, Victoria Wood, Dorothy Paul and many many other local woman comedians (seriously can we not just fucking use comedienne? It's oppressing me to write out woman comedian when there is a perfectly good word available) have hand on both their male and female peers.

This thing is a fad. A cultural joke in and of itself. Though all the whining about twitter really gets on my fucking nerves. Like Twitter has a facility to allow trolls to climb into your home. Don't make public what you don't want shit about. That doesn't matter if you're a woman or a superpower.

Laughing at the shit women do is not misogyny. Some of Jimmy Carr's stuff is misogyny since it mocks women for their appearance, weight, being women etc. There is a place for mockery in comedy. If Jimmy Carr said such in the pulpit or Parliament, then the whiners may have had a point.

You can't pretend on one hand you're an independent warrior goddess amazon queen if you whine about some off colour humour. To do so is to reveal oneself as spineless and give more ammunition to the claim that women are frail not fully in control of reason nor emotion.

That its people who claim themselves feminists that are acting this way is the biggest joke of all. I may never have believed some of the shit the women in local political movements spouted, but at least they had fucking balls.

To me the current thing is like some kind of Society for Creative Political Anarchronism filled with Mary Sues. Sort of like a fake medieval banquet where they all want to be sexy buxom tavern wenches in an authentic ye olde bar, but flip their shit at the first sign of ye olde authentic rat or want the cops called because some guy offered her a gold for some slap and tickle.

They don't really do much but whine a lot and pose for the cameras. They're one stage up from roleplaying.

He says, "the way women are treated in this society is just awful" - but in my opinion, the way women are treated in society is really weird. Women are worshipped and reviled in almost equal measure. For fuck's sake - women are just human beings - as capable of brilliance and stupidity, great kindness and appalling cruelty, the same as any other human being.
