What about the public faces of rational-sceptical-secular-ethical-atheism, then?

Bit of a mouthful - but I do think it's hard to ignore that, as a certain breed of atheist/rationalist - though hard to define - we happen to share a lot of common ground in opinions and sentiments, are here as a sort of community, and can be mobilised as a sort of movement for certain issues.
I think sceptical covers it.
I'm sceptical… :coffee:
Then they for sudden joy did weep,
And I for sorrow sung,
That such a king should play bo-peep,
And go the fools among.
Prithee, nuncle, keep a schoolmaster that can teach
thy fool to lie: I would fain learn to lie.

Public figure people then. The ones who do stuff or run enterprises that a lot of us sceptics/rationalists/freethinkers/secularists gather around, and mostly agree with on various issues.

They are representing themselves, in my book.

Out! Out....
Pray, do not mock me: I am a very foolish fond old man; And, to deal plainly, I fear I am not in my perfect mind.

Blah blah blah blah blah!

Memo to self: no Lir chocolates.

Actually, when I think about it, "....yet here's a spot...." is more appropriate. :tea:

I don't think that's where the spot is.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

Rationalia relies on voluntary donations. There is no obligation of course, but if you value this place and want to see it continue please consider making a small donation towards the forum's running costs.
Details on how to do that can be found here.

Man, please keep your godless buggery to yourself, and if you make use of that public arse, refrain from mentioning it.
