There was camel toe - probably in the recycle bin area of the forum (a private, moderator-access only area: no content was ever permanently deleted, I believe) - therefore the whole forum platform has to go, but we won't bother actually raising and discussing this urgent issue with any forum moderators, or forum members, or anyone else - we'll just hang around quietly for several months, getting down to implementing these grand plans, which all follow quite parsimoniously from the basic desire to eliminate camel toe and other undesirable content, and are obviously the best solution thereto, and we just know best. And we'll brush off the plebs when they ask too many questions about the new site, and we'll dole them Mushroom Management - keep them in the dark, cover them in shit, and eventually can them - even though they're more qualified to do the job than we are - just because...

And we won't be transparent or invite criticism too much, because our PR and discretion are more important than our actual earned credibility and honourability. And we do know best, anyway. And who needs to continue to worry about credibility once you become Richard's protégé, anyway. It's not like he bothers to engage his critical faculties once you reach a certain level of Golden Child in his eyes... And why do we need to worry about being accountable to anyone but ourselves anyway, since it's OUR site? If we want to be hubristic wankers and sap the site slowly from the inside, and appear to go out of our way to piss a lot of people off in the process, that's our privilege, isn't it?

And I, Richard Dawkins, want a site more dedicated to Reason and Science, even though I hardly fucking looked at the science and reason-themed sections of the old site - and even though it's going to take that upstart little bastard lordpasternack to point out that the revamped site has as much true reason and science content as a Tesco Value sausage roll has meat content, before I actually notice this small triviality - and make some effort to try to fix it - by posting mailing-list fodder science news. But that's rhetoric for you - that's not living up to your own values for you - that's showing that even incredibly intelligent minds can be disgracefully stupid, insincere and short-sighted, for you.

That's the 'vision' for you. To be frank - I'd rather compromise and tolerate a couple of camel toe threads. :coffee:

Oh, and I Richard Dawkins am going to storm in from complete ignorance occasionally, and parrot some misinformed lines that some of the protégés I really like have fed me - and am so patently naive that I can't see the manifold ways in which I find myself talking bollocks, and it may only dawn on me several months down the line, at which point I will rationalise that it's too late to do anything about it. And I'm a busy man - you can't expect me to actually properly critically evaluate advice I'm given, and go to the bother of asking the difficult questions that those plebs then ask. You can't expect me to keep track of dysfunctional, incompetent and disintegrating staff. Except that they're NOT incompetent. They simply CAN'T be. They're my protégés, and they shit rainbows!

That's what lawsuits are designed for. A good lawsuit will get to the bottom of whether Josh was behaving above board (or had fair reason to be mistaken about an agreement), or was embezzling. It doesn't matter if I don't appear to have much of a fucking clue what happened here MYSELF, and we don't actually have any case that even convinces me either way. It doesn't matter that the case is so thin on ANY solid court-worthy evidence either way that it was almost pointless considering legal action even if we do have genuine reasons for feeling aggrieved and betrayed by Josh. That's what lawsuits are for. It'll be alright on the night, man. The lawsuit will work it out, eventually...

Actually, I think it was permanently deleted, albeit only after a few weeks - or even a couple of months. But that doesn't invalidate your argument in any way.

I don't think he get's any thing from this personally, it's clear you guys have an irrational hate of him. Maybe he's naive in thinking people give a shit about the truth and evidence.
There is nothing irrational about our hatred of Josh Timonen, any more than in our hatred of religion.
There is history there. He destroyed our forum, deleted our posts and summarily dismissed longstanding hardworking volunteer members of staff without so much as a "thanks, bye". And more besides but I can't be bothered. I'm sure someone would love to fill you in on all the gory details.

Well I am, but I didn't get there by actually being direct with prospective sexual partners - I got there with endless teasing, and hinting, and pussyfootery, and nudging and winking, some occasional drunkenness, some adverts on certain places, and ultimately male initiative of some kind...

I don't mind you looking down on me perhaps a little in light of this - but don't lose hope - I'm still experienced and good at what I do. And either I did well with that one woman that night, or she belongs in the Amateur Dramatics Society. :pardon:

As if the incident with Skepchick wasn't bad enough. Many atheists have rightly criticized various theologian's appeals to the hiddeness of God as a way to explain the lack of empirical evidence to support their case and yet here are Dawkins and other members of the foundation making similar claims. When it comes to evidence, something Dawkins has repeatedly claimed is paramount when considering the truth, shouldn't it be made available for independent confirmation? Surely Dawkins wouldn't want us to just take his word on authority without evidence anymore than we should take the Pope's word on authority, right? Or maybe I'm wrong. Maybe the principles Dawkins espouses he would choose to apply only to religion. But wait, doesn't that sound suspiciously like special pleading. Dawkins once spoke of how much he admired a particular scientist for publicly admitting he was wrong. Dawkins was correct to express such admiration. I only hope he can live up to his own principles.

Aaaand who pray tell, are you?

Courts take testimony and evidence in a variety of forms, some of which may be documentary in nature.

Other factors that are taken into account are behaviours, the facts of events, likelihood, and reliability. Sometimes courts must close cases for lack of documentary evidence.

Justice is not a science, but an art.

What precisely is your relationship to the parties involved, and what is your involvement with the case in question?
