Actually, I was rather looking forward to the epic trilogy version ... but purely for schadenfreude reasons. :)

It might be about Dawkins partner in crime as he is getting slandered all over the place at FTBs.

If this is true, then we might do well to prepare ourselves for a visit from his tame Max Clifford clones. Not a happy prospect. Wonder what Private Eye has got in its little database with respect to all of this?

Frankly, though, I think The Sun would be the least of his worries if any of this ended up in the tabloids. They'd probably congratulate him for being able to perform like a rabbit at his age. More troubling would the likes of the Scaly Mail. Melanie Phillips would have a field day with this.

However, I cannot help but think of the furore that would result if it was revealed that a government minister was behaving in a manner consonant with the assertions presented here. (Before you jump on me for this choice of words, LP, I'm mindful of the need to protect the forum's ass :) ). Using funds that may possibly belong to others, to keep a mistress in a lavish pad, would see a politician's career go south faster than you could say "David Mellor". Moreover, I have a nasty feeling that if this ends up in the public domain, the SFO might want to have some words, and frankly, the last thing I want to see is RD ending up having the creotard crowd point at him as an atheist version of Kent Hovind.

It's a real pity someone who has his ear can't pull him to one side and remind him of the perilous risks he's taking here.
If you had read the emails then you should know the difference between Richard Dawkins LTD and the RDF. Nobody including LP is claiming he uses his charity to fund his (alleged) affairs.
That may be the case. Do you think basic facts such as this will get in the way of duplicitous supernaturalist crowing on the matter? The enemy will lie through its teeth in order to milk any scandal to the full. Plus, if RD LTD is simply a vehicle for managing his private income, I'm slightly puzzled as to how this can be set up as a limited liability company. But I don't pretend to be an expert in this field.

Any person can create a limited company to handle transactions. There are advantages and disadvantages to using a vehicle like that. It is not at all unusual.

But then, without the Final Purge, I might not have ever discovered this place and you people.

Although I could happily live the rest of my days not hearing about either one of them, I'm over being annoyed at the mere thought of them.

I do wish LP would post more though. I like her brain!

What I will say just now is that I have heard through the grapevine that RDFRS is currently in some sort of financial jeopardy, and has been looking to the wider Freethought community for solutions, shall we say.

In light of that situation, my open letter detailing their general mismanagement was passed on by a mutual contact to one such organisation in the wider Freethought community, and said organisation quickly lost any interest they had in RDFRS.

Then, shortly following this incident, this gem of a donations plea was posted to RD.net - asking for cold, hard, cash, funnily enough: http://www.richarddawkins.net/foundatio ... rs-website

And then Robin Elisabeth Cornwell sent me a fucking bizarre email under the initials "sf":

She's also seriously obliterated her Facebook profile for some reason: https://www.facebook.com/elisabeth.cornwell.3

I'd love to be a fly on the wall on the inside right now. It's just so difficult to tell if she means these things as yet another grand manipulation scheme, or if these are less planned manifestations of her straightforward insanity. :tea:

Save Our Secularism- Pakistan Bans RDFRS Website!

by RDFRS posted on August 08, 2013 01:18AM GMT

You can help us continue to reach secularists in Pakistan and other religiously oppressive countries. Your support will allow us to build a safe community for those ostracized and isolated for their beliefs. They can ban our website, but they can not diminish our resolve to make the world safer for nonbelievers. Please, help the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science reach out to our fellow secularists in Pakistan![/quote]

Amusing as that is, I still don't see it as appropriate to share email publicly.

That said, you may be responsible for a little bit if their woes, but they're the ones who got themselves where they are.

Robert - I'm not sharing it because it's "amusing". I'm sharing it because it helps build up a substantive picture of how strange Cornwell is, and how she is reacting to unfolding events. I want to document this.

And you're absolutely right. I am not the one responsible for their current crisis. I am responsible for frustrating them, by detailing the real substantive reasons for their current crisis, and dissuading people from bailing them out. I hope EVERYONE gets that straight. RDFRS have landed it on themselves. Don't shoot me - I'm just the messenger.

I still find it amusing. I also get edgy about personal correspondence being made public. Most interpersonal emails are assumed to be at least a little confidential. I don't share them and I usually expect them to remain private.

Yes, and had it not been for the dumping of the forum, a large number of folks here and at Ratskep would probably still be defending them.

Normally, I'd maintain the confidentiality of private correspondence - but I don't feel the slightest bit unethical sharing the emails that I have, for the purposes outlined. Private correspondence may also be used as evidence in court, for similar purposes.

Anyway, I have some work to do… ;)
