RD is unlikely to know because there are no discussion threads about it and when people try to post something on the front page, it's deleted.

The only way he'd know would be if everyone sent him a PM but I couldn't be certain that he'd receive them at the moment.
Can't PM any more. I tried PMing a member who didn't know what was happening, and the PM said "It is too soon etc." even though it was like a couple of hours from the last PM I sent.

Now, only by e-mail. And in the Melbourne convention.
 They could have set the flood limit (i.e. the interval between posting/PMs) to be something ridiculously long, to basically stop people from sending PMs in any quantity without actually revoking privileges across the board.

Yes, but it is still making the PM system not work. Same thing whether you take away PM privileges or making it needing an impossibly long time between PMs. No difference as Josh can have set the time between PMs to something like 2 years...

PS. Looking for a blogger template: 3 columns, dark, something on the gothic vampire side, not very intricate but elegant. If anyone knows of a template like the above PM me. Thanks.

I think that this was the general intention. It might just be that it was easier for them to do it this way rather than formally revoking privileges for everyone. Maybe this is another panic move. As I remarked elsewhere, the fact that they deleted user accounts (and posts) suggests they are not that familiar with the forum software. They'll probably do the first thing that comes to mind.

Not likely. I live in Athens, Greece. However there are a lot of Aussies from RDF who are very rightly pissed off with the closing down of the forum. And I hope they speak their minds, and direct RD to these threads and blogs that are ranting about this.

The reason for deleting is because that's the only way to stop someone posting on the front page until their log in session runs out. Bans don't work on the front page while the person is logged on.

So all the old login/user faults with the front page that were identified and documented by Yours Truly last year are still there. Why am I not surprised?

Which is strange, because I wasn't even on the FP. Not once have I posted there.
(I think the problem was that I told the dickheads that I hoped their future employers would find out about how royally they fucked this thing up.)

It's a pity the post is gone. I thought I was really witty in that one. (I can't remember for the life of me what exactly I wrote, though.)
