I wonder how the unpaid members of staff on RDF feel about the salary the charity was paying Josh ?

They probably feel shitty and screwed by Josh and RD.

The unpaid members of the staff volunteered...they did it out of love and a desire to give back. Just because they may have been screwed by two people, doesn't erase the fact that they served all of us, who loved and appreciated them.

I'm sorry I couldn't pay them cash, but I sure hope they loved all my appreciation, hugs and big wet kisses!!!!

As someone who earns £6 an hour, I have a pretty good idea of how they feel, even if they do know how appreciated they were before being sold down the river.

You chose a job for pay. Those folks volunteered to work for no pay to serve a community and promote reason and science, no? I do all kinds of volunteer work and a lot of the people I work with and for are paid while I am not. I don't resent them because they negotiated to work for pay.

I wonder if this is meant to be a message to Richard Dawkins rather than the internet forums, whom Josh is no great admirer of from what I understand, some kind of leverage? We don't know what tit-bits Josh has gleaned from the Dawk by being 'the son he never had' and this could be a message that he is willing to drop a 'wikileaqesque' information fart onto the web if pushed? Yes, it was RD who sold them down the river. That is exactly what I meant. I also meant that while many of us give our time freely to good causes, it would piss us off in a big way to find that there was someone else who had done it, not just for money, but for BIG money and who was then instrumental in destroying the very place we'd given our time and effort to. Sorry if I didn't make my point clear.

For anyone not in the UK, £6 an hour is very low pay and I do it not because I 'chose a job for pay' but because it fits in with the school hours of my children and we have bills to pay that their daddy's wage cannot meet. The one day off I have a week, I volunteer at the village school and hold absolutely no resentment toward any of the paid staff there. Just so ya know an all.....

Indeed - you do work for low pay, it's a little over a dollar an hour of our minimum wage.

As for the big money...that was extremely wasteful for a non-profit if it is true, and RD should have known better. Josh was WAY overpaid for his services.

Also, Josh - should you ever return to this thread - I sympathise with the hurt you may have felt about things that have happened or are happening, but I hope you aren't specifically expecting to gain any leverage here by telling us how melancholic you are. I'm willing to believe that you are in a dark space right now. Actually, I suspect you may be bipolar or something, though it's not my job to diagnose such things and nobody here is going to be offering therapy, anyway. But bear that in mind and seek help, or something. Well, do whatever you want with your mind and your life...

One thing you may need to get straight at the outset, though, is beginning to appreciate where you may actually have messed up, or fucked people over, rather than - consciously or not - wheelling out rationalisations, sophistry and convenient versions of events to suit the stability of your evidently fragile and needy ego. It may come in time with any hope. You are fairly talented, Josh - I don't know if you are quite as much as Richard believed - but you do what you do well, from what I could glean. And by "what you do", I don't mean embezzling money as such - though you allegedly do that alright, too. Suck it up, reflect, and mature a little more.
