I agree about NI, by the way. The history of that goes a lot deeper than simple sectarianism, and most of the commentators who think it did ignore many hundreds of years history.
Actually, as an ancient member, may I correct you on the term "Dawks". It was invented (possibly by MCJ) as a lighthearted term for members who loved the forum atmosphere without being into the sciencey stuff... Nothing to do with an RD fan club, at least in its inception...
I wish it was an abbreviation for Dawkinicans. Then you could line up against the Dominicans - "Hounds of Dawkins" v "Hounds of God". Grudge match

Nope, we were just dorks on the dawkins site.... seemed natural that we'd be called that. I think DP or CJ might have come up with it.
CJ, dawks was established by the time I got there.

The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.

I'd noticed this earlier myself.
It was a take-off of the atheist bus add, along the lines of "there's no more forum, so ...".
I'll try and find another copy.

CJ, have you been drinking?

'Work' instead of 'word', misplaced capitals?? I suspect booze.

Next thing you know, you'll want me to summarise the rise and fall of the Roman Empire in a single sentence.

The Vestal Virgin Rhea Silvia gave birth to two sons, Romulus and Remus who built the state, the Romans fought, conquered, partied, enjoyed orgies and fires, lions were fed with their enemies, a fiddle player - alone in his misery, the empire crumbled!

Curioser and curioser...
See you had the regular RDF-related forum spiff while I was away.
Again.
