I gave up trying to read the first thread on this subject when I realised it stretched to 40 pages. I suppose I'll have to ignore large chunks of this one once I've had some sleep and returned to the fray, otherwise it'll take me a week just to read what's happened after this post.

From the comments on one of RD's videos.......apparently it was closed because it was being spammed by creationists.

I know, but there is so much shit out there already I couldn't help having a quick look.
There are also quite a lot of sarcastic comments about RD supposedly being a champion of free speech and that's going down well with a lot of people.

I've just deleted all my posts and made registered user as my default (so I'm not red) but I can't take myself out of the admin group so I've requested that. I'm just letting people know in case they think someone else deleted my posts. (The last one won't go because you can't be a lurker and an admin I guess!).

While I was waiting for my Internet connection to return to sanity, I was watching The Abyss on DVD. I'm increasingly starting to think of Josh as being the weedy, seven stone weakling version of the guy who turns into a fruit loop in the film, and tries to nuke the underwater aliens because he thinks they all speak Russian or something. The difference being, Josh succeeded where the psycho with the Trident warhead failed.

I loved that film, might of been the first time I ever saw some boobs!

Although admittedly, soggy and rather blue boobs.

OOoh ooh... sorry... I don't even know what this thread is about. I just want to say... I found you... I found you guys. Thought I lost ya all. I wasn't online when the guano splattered all over the fan, and I just read Peter Harrison's blog post all about the ridiculous events. OMG I don't post much (my brain isn't big enough to put out much more than white noise) but I read it ALL the time and... It's like the scene in Empire Strikes Back... finding Luke and Han on Hoth

Sorry, I had to read ALL previous posts in these announcement threads before I could make my first here!

Well, I am glad that so many people have maintained their links through this farce of a situation, and that people are still trying to get in contact with others. Thanks also to rationalia for being our ark and saving 2 of every kind! <this is the kind of shit Josh has now inspired>. There's now a historical record of a global flood..... sorry Cali! This flood is one of authoritarian faeces sploshing out all over the globe and destroying testaments to rational and educational discourse, and all simply because of one man's piteous inability to take criticism.

From my perspective, the entire process literally happened overnight! I went to bed having read some interesting posts, I didn't reply as it was late. Early next morning, the forum was gone. What happened? From every source available, the only thing we can say with certainty is that Josh got to show off that he can pull the plug on thousands of people. I don't buy the explanation offered by some that he was simply unaware of the forum to such a large degree as this behaviour would permit- he knew very well how popular the forum was; we can at least expect him to know his job well enough to check statistics.

This was a crude exhibition of power, a barely evolved ape shaking its electronic tree.

Josh needs to be reminded about the problems of ultimate power like this. Especially in his role for the foundation.


Josh bear this in mind for your future career post-RDF....

The measure of your power does not lie in the number of people who are forced to bow to your personal authority, the measure of your power lies in the number of people who are obliged to suffer your stupidity.

As such, you have indeed achieved a display of power and shown why you were not worthy to lead such a forum. What better way to deal with something you can't manage than to destroy it?

Yep.... it would be wise for them to bear in mind, that Josh and Andrew are the ones whose names are known... and their actions have been felt. So this might haunt them for a long time to come. We can hope, anyway...
