To the OP, I can't make a firm decision until I find out what the new version is going to be like. I won't react out of spite, but my interest in RD.net is clearly diminished.

I'm not going back to RDF.
An Arabian guy at the aeroport:
- Name?
- Ahmed al-Rhazib.
- Sex?
- Three to five times a week.
- No, no… I mean male or female?
- Male, female, sometimes camel.
- Holy cow!
- Yes, cow, sheep, animals in general.
- But isn’t that hostile?
- Horse style, doggy style, any style!
- Oh dear!
- No, no! Deer run too fast.

You couldn't drag me back there with a team of 40 mules.

How could one ever trust them again?

It was fun while it lasted, fun and good and sweet, but they chose to ruin it so now they can steam in their own disingenuous swill and choke on their own lies and deceptions.

No mas!

I will wait to see. I never imagined Richard Dawkins was a people-person.

If there is no forum, then it will drop off my menubar forum collection into a mass of bookmarks grouped by general subject. If there is, I will have a look at it to see what is its nature.

After the first day I never looked at anything on the old site except the forum, with my bookmark link going straight to it, as I expect many other people also had it set up.

I'm not a one-forum kind of cat.

Edit: added a couple of comments.

Going back would be dangerous. Dawkins is clearly senile now and Josh is clearly sucking on his teat. Dawkins has lost perspective of reality and how to interact with the "common" people. He now sees himself as a god. It's not something I want to be part of.

Probably not, unless something drastic happens soon. The way things are going right now, I don't know if I can bring myself to continue reading Richard's books, forget about posting on his comment board (I refuse to call it a forum, at least the way it's being currently described.) I can't support somebody I've lost respect for, no matter how good he is at doing what he does. And my respect for RD is slowly sinking down the crapper unless he pops up soon and says something like "Oh I got this letter from our former staff and realize now that I've been misled. It was handled extremely poorly and I'm very sorry. I, nor the RDFRS, condone rick rolling people who are simply trying to back up their favorite posts, among other things. I will see to it that Mr. Timonen is dealt with properly."

Same reason I won't watch movies starring numbnuts like Tom Cruise or Jim Carrey. I can't get the thoughts of all the stupid shit they've done out of my head while I'm watching them. Completely ruins the movie, ya know? :P

Although I might lurk a little bit, because I predict that it will go down in the most boring flames ever seen in the history of the internet, and I want to be there to see it happen. Just to get that lovely sensation of "I fucking told you so."

I never imagined I was interacting with Dawkins anyway, or indeed that he had anything to do with it except provide the forum for a hell of a lot of people whom I found interesting and informative (and for others as well :what: )

Seems they don't even WANT to deactivate my account. It's still active.

I would never go back there, regardless of what the new format is like. Its the amount of lies they've told more than anything else that pisses me off.

My visits will be very occassional , I choose to go where my friends are, where my extended cyber-family is, and if that isn't RDF I ain't hanging around there.

I'm just curious to see what exactly they are scrapping a great forum for. It sounds pretty stupid from what little detail is available. Articles which you may or may not comment on at the discretion of Josh. I pretty much expect it to fail.

My account is active, but it is unusable for now and I doubt it will improve. And 90% of my friends have gone elsewhere.
The New Utopia will exclude my participation, I feel. I'm more in it for the witty banter, friendships, socialising and self-improvement via the very educational threads (and cretinist rebuffs). The daft threads, the videos and the lolcats too!
I'm not an educated heavy-weight but I like to join in where I can, and given the new vision and the supposed absence of chit-chat, and light-relief, I feel I don't give off a 'blip' on Dawkins radar any more. *blub*
Doesn't look like it'll be a forum really anyhow. Time to quit, probably.

Also: Is it even possible to have your account deactivated whilst not having all your posts deleted?
deactivating what? you think I'll take that kind of pain? No my friend, my account will just be permanently dormant because I'm not coming back to a site where I can't post and where so many interested people have just been summarily deleted.
